Science of Star Wars
Creating a promotional campaign for a TV show about one of the most famous movie sagas ever is thrilling—and hard work! Sapling Pictures took on the challenge with enthusiasm and produced a campaign for Discovery Channel'sThe Science of Star Wars that continues to be televised around the world.
In addition to creating the promotional campaign for the three part series, Sapling designed and integrated an original brand for the show and adapted it for international markets. Creating a look around the existing Star Wars brand —
including shooting Sir Anthony Daniels, the original C-3PO — and integrating the Discovery Channel’s brand was a tall order. Using 2D and 3D graphics, Sapling delivered all of the elements and more, even adding a space battle around the Discovery logo. Working with translators from each region, Sapling modified the concept for several languages including, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese and Spanish.
Sapling's hard work and the success of the project was evident. Premiering at the height of the prequels’ release in theaters, ratings for the Science of Star Wars series soared, and as the show repeats, the ratings continue to hold strong.
