Deadliest Catch
For six years now, Sapling Pictures has produced short-form content for Deadliest Catch, one of the highest-rated non-fiction cable series on television. Sapling has also produced the weekly promotional campaign.
In both of these capacities, Sapling provided Discovery Channel with services such as research, writing, design, art direction and audio mixing for the award-winning show and promotional campaign.
Whether we produced webisodes, mobile content or promotions for Deadliest Catch, Sapling succeeded in portraying the human drama at the heart of every episode. We aimed to show audiences the reality of what fishermen go through every day at sea, hustling and risking their lives for the chance at the "gold" — the lucrative Alaskan crab. This is life or death — no safety net, no second chances. The unique bonds formed by the fishermen, many of whom pass their craft down from generation to generation, resonate both on and off the screen. Special behind-the-scenes featurettes give viewers a chance to see how the film crews risk their lives to capture the action.
Sapling’s work on Deadliest Catch has won numerous awards, including Promax/BDA Gold Awards and Telly Awards.
